About the company:

The business was founded by Robert Dunn in 1979, when he opened his first retail shop in Eastwood, a market town half way between Nottingham and Derby, well known as the birthplace of both D.H.Lawrence, the writer, and the Midland Railway.

Coming from a family of horologists whose heritage can be traced back over 200 years to Dublin, Robert initially specialised in watch and clock repairs and restorations, carrying out not only the repairs that came into the shop, but repairs for a number of other companies as well. A committee member of the Nottingham and Derby branch of the British Horological Institute, Robert’s work was inspected by a BHI instructor in 1989, and he was approved as a Craft member of the BHI, nowadays designated MBHI. Over the years, a number of companies have placed an embargo on spare parts for their watches, amongst whom were the prestige brand Rolex. Robert applied for a place on one of their approval courses, and following a pre course assessment of his abilities, attended the course after a wait of three years! This means that he is able to obtain genuine factory replacement parts for these high grade watches, and offers a twelve month guarantee on all overhauled and refurbished watches from the company in the same way as Rolex themselves do. All other makes of watches carry a minimum 6 month guarantee, with some other quality watches and all movement exchanges carrying a full twelve month guarantee.

In addition to watch repairs the company also carries out Jewellery repairs and repairs and restoration to Antique and other quality clocks as well as stocking a varied range of silver and gold jewellery, and watches by well known makers, including Citizen, Sekonda, Accurist and Pulsar.

The business is still family run today after two moves to different premises within the town, with Linda and Sara, Robert’s wife and daughter serving clients, leaving Robert free to continue with the repair work on site.

Services

Jewellery sales:

We carry a varied selection of predominantly 9ct.gold jewellery, including neck chains, bracelets, rings and earings. These start from as little as £5.00 for a pair of earings up to around £250.00 for a diamond ring. For customers seeking something a little more special, we have a range of 18ct gold rings set with diamonds from around £250.00 up to in excess of £1000.00.

In addition to the gold jewellery, we have a range of Sterling Silver items, including chains, bracelets bangles and designer pendants. A recent addition to the range has been the Silverado range by Annabeads. These are mainly a new concept on the traditional charm bracelet, and with the wide range of silver beads available you can be assured that no two pieces are ever likely to be the same. An advantage is that they are fully compatible with other makes, including Pandora etc.

Jewellery Repairs:

We offer a full repair service to all types of precious metal jewellery, such as normal chain repairs and ring sizing, normally taking less than one week, to a bespoke making up and remodelling service. Our designers would be happy to take your requirements and design something personal. As with all our estimates, there is no charge for this.

Watch Repairs:

We are happy to give free estimates on all watch repairs, and think that you will find our prices competitive. Where we are unable to offer a repair, due perhaps to manufacturer’s parts restrictions, we will do our best to offer you advice on where you may get the repair carried out. Please note that we do not carry out work on any counterfeit watches, as it has been proven that proceeds from the sale of these watches is often used to fund other criminal activity.

Clock repairs and sales:

Most of the antique clocks we have in stock are what is known as Vienna Regulators, and we usually have in stock a selection of single, double and triple weight driven examples. These clocks have all been personally imported into the UK by Robert, who has made many trips into Europe on buying expeditions. Before sale, all clocks are fully overhauled and the cases restored by a specialist to ensure that you are fully happy with your purchase.

We offer the same level of service to customers wishing to have treasured family clocks restored, and as with watches and jewellery, a quotation will cost you nothing.
